Idol 4 with VR is rated 2.5 out of 5 by 218.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not much different from idol 3 Loved my idol 3! Decided to upgrade after reading many wonderful reviews about the idol 4. The sound is great, the camera is great, it's a great phone to hold. But many reviews, ones linking the phones page on crickets website claimed the cricket idol 4 had 3 gigs ram. The Cricket idol 4 does not have 3 gigs of ram, it has 2 gigs of ram. Which was very disappointing to find out after purchasing the phone. I would not have purchased the phone to replace my idol 3 had I known that. More research must be done by reviewers and customers, and it's be nice of cricket listed this type of info plainly on the phones pages on their site.

Battery life is good and lasts me all day and then some..cant say enough good things about this phone. Alcatel has really stepped up its game big time..there isn't one complaint i have about this phone.. not one..cant wait till cricket gets the idol 5..ill be first in line for sure..i love this phone cant you tell..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Alcatel Idol 4 I bought this phone about a month ago, it has been a very great experience. Speakers are amazing (Compared to Cricket's other devices). The 13MP rear & 8MP front camera is outstanding! Great storage capacity with 16GB Internal memory and you can add an SD card of up to 500GB , This phone has 2GB of RAM (same as iPhone 7). Comparing these devices to the Samsung Galaxy S7 & Apple iPhone 7 (I've previously owned) I can truly say this left me super shocked. Shocked because I saved a couple hundreds and got an amazing phone. Highly Recommend this product to everyone looking for a flagship device.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great phone I've had this phone I think since January. The battery is decent unless you don't know how to use battery saving tips. The screen is awesome but sometimes a little dark even on 100℅ brightness ( only in certain lighting). I found a case and screen protectors easily online. It charges fairly quick, the camera has awesome features. I am quite happy with this phone. By fall I will buy a different one, but I like buying new phones. Overall this is an easy to live with device. The VR GOGGLE'S work pretty good too. I don't use them as much as I thought I would because half of the apps make me dizzy. But I can play FPS games in VR and use a Bluetooth controller in combination with it and other than getting hot it runs everything smoothly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst phone I've ever used! This phone is filled with bloatware. Alcatel has put an app on it that wants you to run a background boost, antivirus scan, and scan for updates every single time you open the phone. It kills battery life and there is no way to remove the app. After talking with Cricketr and Alcatel they gave me a solution of uninstalling updates and turning off auto update, but the app still redownloads and even adds more apps that I never asked for. On top of that it has also removed all of the app icons I normally use from the front page of my phone, causing me to have to open up the apps menu and putting them all back on... twice. This phone is terrible.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Phone with VR The phone is surprisingly decent. I didn't expect to like it because I am used to big phones, but I think this has changed my opinion on that. The VR headset is also better than expected. I just can't use it for too long with getting dizzy. Pros: screen quality small form factor (some phones are too big to go into pockets and manuever) free vr headset front facing speakers (very loud!) Cons: horrible battery life (it even drains when the phone is turned off!) low ram low storage space vr headset needs a headstrap bloatware (which i think some of it is malware)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid phone for the price I really hadn't had any experience with Alcatel and last had the Samsung III flagship which lasted me for years. I can say that the Idol 4 is much faster, has a nice display, takes better pictures. I'm not sure the call quality is as good. I like the boom button for pics. I like the way that the phone extends memory using the sd card; not sure if this is an android version change or the alcatel implementation. I hate that the battery is non-replaceable, but the battery life has been pretty good for me, even with the gps turned on. A big improvement is that the phone doesn't eat battery life on GPS and doesn't get hot like the Samsung did The salesman at the cricket store recommended this as one of the best they carry in this price range and I haven't looked back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best sound period. I love the speakers on this phone. I like that I don't have to go out and buy a Bluetooth sound box to watch my favorite shows. The screen is amazing and for the price you can't beat these features. I took a lot of time at cricket researching phones. This is by far best bang for the buck. Only drawback is battery life. (Hence why I don't give the phone 5 stars) Mine lasts about a day and poof gone. Just plug it in whenever you get a chance. .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome phone for amazing price! I got this phone the week before Christmas because my old one had been stolen. I think it was meant to happen though because this phone is a million times better than the HTC desire 626. That thing had absolutely no storage space and that's one of the main reasons why I bought this phone. Not only does it have a ton of storage, u can add way more by adding an SD card! Everything about this phone is great except for the battery life. That could definitely be better, but what do you expect from a phone holding so much stuff on it anyways?!! I still give it 5 stars for a brand I never even heard of. And I only paid $99.99! Christmas special! I did hours of research too before buying this phone in store. The only other comparable phones cost hundreds more dollars. This is your best bet for sure!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great phone terrible vr The phone works great. Fast, great sound and display. But the VR head set is terrible. The VR app store has barely anything to offer beside a hand full of gimmick games and videos. You can not surf the web and also has a horrible design choice of putting the select and back button on the bottom of the headset. So if you are holding it be careful not clicking any navigation buttons because you will constantly be clicking back and forth just trying to do basic menu features.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hidden Gem Underrated Phone so I have had this phone now for roughly about 4-5 months and I love it. the screen is big and bright and the camera quality is amazing. the sound quality on it is wonders and have never had a phone with crisp clear speakers. battery life is like on every other phone drains fast if you're on it but if you use it moderately then you'll be fine

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Alcatel idol 4 Ive had this phone for 3 months. And it was an okay phone. It has crashed twice in the past week. My phone will not turn on. When i put this on the charger it shows the white notification light. But has not turned on. The nice lady last week helped ne fix it. But she took the sim card out and then put it on the charger and it turned on agian. I dont think its that simple to turn the phone on that way when it crashed. Im looking to get an iphone now because my alcatel idol 3 before this has something wrong with the power button so i had to get another alcatel. I do not recommend this product. Id pass on the alcatel! Thank you for ny time

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Device! This is a great device for those who are into mid-range smartphones. The design is beautiful, although slippery and fragile. A case is definitely necessary. The cameras are decent with good lighting. The speakers are great. My main con is not with the phone, but with Cricket's lack of updates. This phone hasn't received any new security patches since September of 2016, and is still running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Other than that though, I would definitely recommend this phone for people who can't, or don't want to, spend hundreds of dollars on a flagship that will become just as obsolete as any other device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Phone I could care less about the VR but the rest of the phone is responsive and picks up a signal better than the Lumia 950 I was using previously.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best Bang for the Buck! I purchased this phone about 2 months ago from the Cricket Store and I think this phone isn't the best nor the worst. Compared to phones I've owned prior, I think this phone is just the Best Bang for the Buck. Not too cheap nor too expensive (high quality) but it's good enough to own. There are some minor issues with the touch and for some reason you need a High End SD card just to keep your Facebook apps and such to load fast and smooth. Otherwise it just tells you that you have a slow SD Card. But can't complain, it's doing me good and I love it. The VR that comes with it is pretty cool as well. And I'm really digging the slim feel of the phone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bang for your buck Been looking for a replacement for my S5. I have owned Iphone 3, 4S, Galaxy Note 4 Edge prior to this as well. You can't compare this phone to those by a longshot. Well it's better than the Iphone 3 for sure. However, for $100 on sale it can not be beat. I will no longer make installment plans as my Note 4 Edge was $33 for 30 months. Do the math, it almost costs the amount of my Lenova Yoga 2 laptop that I am using. So after shopping around willing to spend $300 for a phone, I decided to go cheap and buy this. Especially since I bought my son the Idol 3 a few months back for $100. He has had no problems. The speakers and screen are great, and I easily applied my apps from old phone on here. I don't really care about pix as I don't take a lot of pix anyways. I already saved a lot of money switching to Cricket after being with ATT for over 10 years. Owned by them anyways. Overall, I'm happy my purchase. If it lasts me 1 year I'll be happy, hopefully longer, cause Id rather go online on my tablet or computer anyways...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A great platform for advertising, not much else Do you want to save $25 off your first order of a website you've never heard of? then this is the phone for you! Every time I plug the phone in, the charging screen (which is a dumb idea on its own) also provides an ad for you to wish you'd bought a different phone. Add to that all the bloatware you can't remove and I already regret this phone. The VR might be neat if it didn't register screen presses on its own and the headset worked with the google carboard system, but the "button" layout won't work with that so don't expect to use them for much beyond the first five minutes. this vr system is already on the road to obsolescence.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best phone I have ever bought!! Love this phone, great sound, pic and I like it that the on and off are on the left hand side. My previous phone was an HTC and always kept turning in off and on by accident as the button was on the right.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's one rad phone The phone is amazing. Love all the features. Super easy to use. Apps don't store up on the SD card at all so the storage is kinda sucky. The battery over heats on charge, if you use the phone while charging, and if you use the VR. Overall though it's way better then any phone I have ever had. If you get this phone you might want to get a case BC if you drop it without one you're out of luck.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Features! I've upgraded my Alcatel Idol 3 to this phone and I couldn't be happier! I've had it for 6 months and so far no problems. The camera quality sold me and it's decent size phone. Not too big and not too small. Overall, perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The greatest invention since the slip differential First of all, let me start by saying how grateful I am to just have a smartphone. Realistically though, I have had many before and was reasonably impressed by their preformance. But much like a Ferrari those absurdly fast processors were in efficient and died in three hours if I used them the way I wanted to. The Idol slays. Remember the old saying "Droid does?" Well, they remembered that. And with this phone they engineered the actual experience of using it to a T. Someone said "let's have a phone that gives the user power and poise. And let's make it blend right in with every other Android, but be twice as potent." The philosophy of design with this phone stood out to me more than anything else. The custom operating system and the way the graphics are rendered stand out to me as making this phone the most desirable on the market. And let me just be clear, you are slaying iPhones with this technology. Most of the features take an extra ten seconds to access but completely blow iPhones and a lot of other droids for that matter, completely out of the water. I have NEVER met someone else with this phone and that makes it kind of exclusive. If you doubt this little Droid, you have underestimated a dragon. Seriously, hands down the best phone.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible In the less than 6 months that I've owned this phone I've had to do a factory reset at least 8 times. Its a guessing game as to whether or not the apps will stall on each reset. There's also a major hassle with the SD card if you want to format it as internal memory, which is most likely the cause of the apps stalling. Losing all my data each time is not what I had in mind when I bought this. Its not all bad: the resolution is amazing and the four speakers have the best audio I've ever heard on any phone. Its great if you enjoy watching Netflix on the go, but if you play a lot of games or want a lot of music saved to your phone, its just not worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Phone Perfect size, great battery life, high build quality with metal and glass, minimal bloat ware, great performance. We bought three of them and all have performed great the first month. VR isn't worthwhile on any phone that doesn't have 4k screen resolution so it is of limited value on this phone. It was a freebie, so it saved me from buying a headset to try.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wonderful phone! Over the years, I have had a number of phones. Recently, I had an LG G4 that - after about 6 months - started acting nuts. The battery would drain from 100 to 20% in about 3 hours...apps wouldn't work right...and I missed a number of texts because if I left the window open...I never knew a response had come in. With the Idol 4...all that is gone. I take my phone off the charger when I wake up in the morning at 5:30 and by the time I go to bed around 9pm...there is still almost 45% battery left. Not to mention the sound is awesome and the full HD is amazing. I loaded Star Wars VII and watched it and it was almost better than in the theater. A lot of people mention that the VR isn't that great. Hey...for the price...you can't have everything. I was quite disappointed that the VR headset didn't even come with a cheap headstrap...and also that there was no headphones. Again, even cheap ones would have been better than nothing. Call quality is great...and the pictures are wonderful. I haven't taken video yet...but I feel I will be quite happy with it. The phone itself feels a lot like an old iPhone...with the glas front and back. It did come with a screen protector for the front..but some places indicated that a generic plastic backing would be provided as well. Perhaps even if two protectors could have been provided...one for front and one for the back. Overall, I have to say that I am impressed. I have always been a bit leery about phone without a replaceable battery...but really, for the price of this...I could be tempted to buy a second one and just keep it in the box in case something happens. Yes...this phone is that good.
