Idol 4 with VR is rated 2.5 out of 5 by 216.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from The sound and volum to hear people on the phone is I bought this phone last month, and I like that the sounds and volume are great on it. Even the camera is great. But keep a charger with you, the life of the battery sucks on this phone. I even went back to the store to ask if there was something wrong and they said it looks fine to me. Also I have a hard time looking stuff up. The WI-FI sucks on it and I'm constantly getting kicked off the internet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My second smart phone, it's so much better I had a free cricket ZTE Overture II and this is way better. The VR is pretty cool but headset cheaply does not come with the $15 strap. It's also a pain if the VR app goes down you have to disassemble unit to get back at phone. BIG ISSUES: when in messaging, holding phone vertical I press mic for speech to text and the google speak button 99% of the time goes up then away. If I hold phone horizontal the mic works fine ??????? Also, when texting the keyboard is close to the home/return buttons and about 95% of the time I'm typing the keyboard backs out the the message details screen comes up, so there are issues with the touch screen. Also cannot figure out how to get phone to store pictures, videos to SD card first, or at all. At 15gb of the 16gb and now having problems with running out of space and need to figure out how to move / store stuff on SD card. Frustrating.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Loud speakers, but blew out I got this phone and was very pleased with it at first. Speakers were loud and sounded great. But after about 2-3 months, the speakers are blowing out and crackling. Overall not an awful phone, besides the speakers being garbage, it's nice and fast. Battery life isn't great either, it's below average. But hey, I needed a cheap phone and I got what I paid for.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent Phone, Not Great. Pretty good phone for the price. However the battery life is the worst and because of that I am trading it in for another phone. If you're into Alcatel I'd suggest going with the Idol 3 as it is better than this one. It also over heats very quickly. If you can overlook the 2 flaws it can be the perfect phone for you. Awesome camera, and display.. But as I said the battery life sucks.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor poor poor I bought my boyfriend and me these phones and we both have the same issues with the battery draining so fast it isn't funny. Plus we always have to reboot the phone to make the Bluetooth work. It lags where internet is concerned and sometimes we have no signal at all. I went from an iPhone to this thing and I regret it now. Pictures are grainy and it's just overall a horrible choice.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible I had the phone for a month when upper half of the screen stopped responding, but I figured that was on me for dropping it. The Bluetooth does not work and the camera is so slow. File manager and message notifications keep popping up and won't go away. Wi-Fi keeps going in and out. And some times the phone gets so hot and the battery will die as soon as I take it off of the charger.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Slow phone... frustrating new file manager I bought this phone in November because I didn't want to shell out the $500 for a phone that I have historically had to replace every year and a half. From the beginning I have been frustrated with how slow the Alcatel is, especially when trying to get driving directions, there is an annoyingly long pause while the internet connects, then it takes almost a minute for it to find the location you need directions too.... I rely on my friends' phones because they get the information in 2 seconds. But I was willing to put up with the slowness because that is what you get for the price. Recently however there has been an update to the File Manager app on this phone and it is extremely intrusive. There is a bar that is ever present on the lock screen, and the app drains the battery. I have disabled the app, I have uninstalled all the updates only to have it reinstall itself every time my phone updates. This is the straw that forces me to get a new phone. Don't buy this junk.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from My husband despises this phone. I bought this phone for my husband a couple months back, he was so excited about the VR. The VR store through Alctel isnt even compatable because this is a lower quality phone. The camera is terrible! His battery is constantly being eaten up by the preloaded junk that you can not remove from your phone. He went back to using his old ZTE that is so old it is falling apart.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Don't recommend I must admit, really great camera and speakers that's literally the only good thing about this phone. The battery life doesn't even last three hours, and I really don't use my phone as much because I usually stay using my iPad. Also the VR is pretty wack, I really wouldn't recommend this phone. But cricket services are awesome, I'm very glad I returned to this company.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Should be 0 stars I've had this phone a few months now and it's pretty bad. The only good things I can say about it are the speakers sound good and picture quality is nice, other than that it's junk. Opens up the internet it of the blue when I'm doing other things, keyboard drops out on me constantly and the mic barely works, very slow opening apps, worst phone I've had.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Was good at first Bought this phone and was pretty good at first but the file manager that has been in the latest update ruined the phone it locks up all the time and the battery goes down like the gas gauge on a 460 ford.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sorry. 1 failure after another. Speech-to-text fails in portrait orientation. Messenger video fails completely. if you turn off the auto mode on the DJ player, every song has to be loaded singly. Every app has to have video-overlay switched off in order to duh the first time. This phone is just one big pile of disappointment. My 4 year old S4 worked better.S

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst phone I've ever owned. The battery life is horrible. I can take it to work, not use it once in the 8 hrs in there. It's at 50% when I leave. It dies at least once a day. It freezes all the time. I've had it a while two months. It throws an error msg at least once a week. I have to power it down to get the msg to go away. Yep worst phone ever.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Old Software Build About two weeks ago I bought this phone because my company changed the network at my workplace to one that only works with a phone that is “HD Voice capable”. Since my present phone would not work with the new system we have at work, I searched Cricket's web site for HD Voice capable phones. Saw that the Idol 4 was HD Voice capable but would need a later software build than what originally comes on the phone. I ordered my wife an Idol 4 about six months ago so I checked the software build and hers had received an updated software build. Seeing as to how her phone updated to a newer software I was sure this phone would do the same. After receiving the phone and activating it I checked settings, cricket software update and tried to update the phone. My phone checked for updates and came back with the message “no updates available check back in 24 hours”. I have been doing this for the last two weeks with the same results. My solution was to switch phones and sim cards with my wife. Contacting Cricket care by chat and E-mail was no help at all. If you want a phone and HD Voice isn’t a feature important to you this is a nice phone and works well. If you need or want HD Voice, this is not the phone for you.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not so great Camera and speakers are amazing!!!! But if had to buy 3 phone in 2 years due to my power button not working. I have to plug my phone into a power source to get my screen to power on. My phones weren't wet or dropped and iv had this problem with all 3 phones. Finally got tired of wasting money and got a galaxy. Don't waste your money.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Okay at first 6 months Great camera, but many other features stopped working after about 7 months. Bluetooth does not want to stay connected, GPS not properly tracking distance, battery life significantly less than when I first got the phone. My phone is about 9 months old. I also had memory issues with new android system, you can't move apps to SD card.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not good Bought this a couple of weeks ago thinking I got a great deal. The phone gets hot f you use it too long. There is a VR store on the phone that has yet not worked. The VR unit itself is ok. It would of been nice if it came with a head strap so that you didn't have to hold it up to your face. If I could. Would of returned it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from worst phone I've had This phone I would NOT recommend. The idol 4 always looses Is it's connection to internet, after I have put my wifi password in multiple times after I have already saved it. And if I'm not paying attention to that it Will use my data. On multiple occasions I have had full connection to the internet and my phone will not connect. It will say connected but with no internet when I do have internet and the password is correct. For Bluetooth.. i have my device right next to what it's trying to "pair" with.. never works or never shows a device to connect too. I have to restart my phone then put Bluetooth on then maybe it MIGHT find what I'm looking for. The Camera is what I initially wanted. Takes great pictures during the day outside. Not good in the dark with flash or inside the house..Speakers are ok for having 4 of them but nothing special about them... Phone Freeze's ALL the time. And EVERYTIME I try to read something on the internet the site gets interrupted EVERYTIME .. I understand some sites mess up but this is too often it happeneds this phone makes me want to go back to flip phones it's that bad...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Battery is terrible I hate this phone. The battery is horrible. The upgrades take forever. It sucks!!!!! I absolutely hate this phone. So what about the VR, it used to work with my cars bluetooth, now it doesn't. It was a complete waste of my money. I would not only NOT recommend this product, I would NOT recommend any Alcatel products.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It's okay I bought mine like a week ago, i like the phone an all but the only thing I HATE about the phone is the battery goes dead sooo fast, the battery life literally sucks! So if you like to be able to use your phone an not worry about it dying within an hour an a half then DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!!!!. Seriously tho.. Lol

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not satisfied with this cell Three time I had to return it back and they always sent me refurnish cell! First one that I can't recharge it then a second time because Download update froze my phone. And now I can't charge it again it won't take. All the money that you pay and they give us a refurbished other companies give you a new phone!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT GET THIS PHONE From the moment I got this phone I have been having nothing but problems. You can not hear the other person the phone. I have changed all the settings and you still cant hear them. It turns off on its own. I can't draw my pattern to unlock the phone. A lot more issues. The worst phone I have ever had.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Phone is weak It heats up fast and randomly even without any apps running. Lags and can be really buggy while not having much internal space even with androids marshmallow feature that lets you convert an sd to internal. It won't let you move much onto the converted memory. Alcatels service isn't that great either.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Camera is not good I bought this phone about a month ago and the camera is not good at all. If you want a phone to take pictures don't waste your money on this one. Speaker worked for a week and now they sound bad. This phone is only good to make calls and receive calls and text. Have to admit battery is good.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DEFECTIVE, DEFECTIVE, DEFECTIVE. ALSO IDOL 3. Bought it to replace my idol 3, which the manufacturer said was defective but would take one week to replace (after they received my returned phone). So I'd be without a phone for weeks. A month after replacing my idol 3 with idol 4, it started closing my internet and apps while I'm in the middle of doing stuff. Then it started automatically starting the voice recorder and recording my daily conversations. This was happening every few minutes. Id have to turn it off and it would start right back up within seconds. It would stop for a few minutes and then start again. I had to disable it and say no to permission to record audio and now I can't use Google voice typing. Recently, 6months in, the screen lock and won't move when you try to scroll up or down. This one is defective too. I'll never buy Alcatel again. my husband warned me, but I didn't listen. He told me that Alcatel was the worst brand to buy. He's surprising me with a ZTE brand phone this afternoon. Lol. He said those are the best.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great features, waste of money, I bought the phone less than a year ago. It works great, the camera is awesome. The downfall is that it constantly freezes, runs really slow after a few months of use and now it doesn't even turn on and off. I have a memory card and only a few apps so it's not an overloading or storage issue.
Date published: 2017-08-10
Rated 2 out of 5 by from not the worst Over the course of 10 months I had a few problems but recently the screen cracked while in my pocket and the touch sensor wouldn't let me unlock the phone so back up your phone also the back is glass and it is very thin even the display model at my cricket has shattered back glass
