Checking for Available Memory

All phones have limitations to the amount of storage space that they have. This does not mean that you need to have a limited user experience on your device. Below are some tips and tricks which will allow you to manage your smartphone memory in order to support additional application downloads, or free up space for Deezer Music or firmware upgrades.

  1. Go to Menu.
  2. Select Settings within the Android Menu.
  3. Select Applications or Apps.
  4. Select Manage applications.

Available memory will be displayed at the bottom of the screen in the "Internal storage" box.

  2. Select Settings within the Android Menu.
  3. Select Applications or Apps.

Move Apps to MicroSD Card

All of Cricket's smartphones have the ability to manage the on-device memory and come with microSD card slots. Most applications, pictures and videos can be moved over to the microSD card, thus freeing up memory space and allowing for more downloads. This means that more applications can be downloaded to your smartphone, if they are stored on the microSD card. Note: to use an application stored on the microSD card, the card needs to be inserted in the phone.

  1. Go to Menu.
  2. Select Settings within the Android Menu.
  3. Select Applications or Apps.
  4. Select Manage applications.
  5. Find the App you wish to move.
  6. Select Move to SD card.

Remove Cache and Data Files

Android applications store information in cache and data files. Typically your browser, mail, Gmail, and social media applications have the largest cache. Removing cache will remove temporary files but will not remove your application or application settings. Clearing data is similar to uninstalling and reinstalling an application.  Please note: It will reset all of your settings as well as removing log-ins and saved information.

  1. Go to Menu.
  2. Select Settings within the Android Menu.
  3. Select Applications or Apps.
  4. Select Storage Use.
  5. Select the App you wish to remove the data or clear cache.
