Activation

How do I activate my service?

That's easy. If you ordered online, just activate online by entering your order number and your mobile phone number. Make sure your SIM card is already inserted into your phone and your phone is powered on.

Activating a universal SIM card or device you purchased from a non-Cricket retailer (not in a Cricket store or online at cricketwireless.com)? Check out our instructions on setup and activation.

What happens after I set up my SIM card kit or device online?

You'll get an email that confirms your service purchase and contains your order details. Make sure you activate to start your service.

If you're transferring a number, you may experience a slight delay while we contact your current wireless company to request the transfer. If this happens, we'll email you to keep you updated. Once the transfer is confirmed, we'll send you a link to activate.

Number Transfers

How does the number transfer process work?

When you place your order (or shortly thereafter), you'll need to provide your current wireless account information. We'll work with your current wireless company to confirm your number can be transferred to Cricket. If we need help during the process, we'll contact you.

You can continue to use your current phone and wireless service until you're ready to make the switch. We won't actually transfer your phone number to Cricket until you activate your service.

When you're ready, activate online, and your phone number will be transferred. Here are a few things you'll want to know:

  • You may have what we call "mixed service" for up to 4 hours. This means that your old device may receive calls while your new device can make calls. This is due to the time it takes for the transfer to process through all the systems between your current wireless company and Cricket.
  • SMS/MMS messages could take up to 8 hours to work properly while the transfer processes.
  • Data should work on your new phone immediately after activation. If you have any trouble with accessing data or using the internet on your phone, you may need to update your data settings.

How can I check the status of my phone number transfer?

If you placed on order and your phone number transfer said "in progress," you can check the status of your transfer online. We may ask you to enter or correct your current wireless account information so we can confirm your transfer.
