Bring My Number to Cricket

We make it easy to bring your number to Cricket. Whether you're a new customer or you want to add a line to your existing Cricket account, we make it simple to transfer your number. Just remember to keep your current service active until you receive your Cricket device or SIM in the mail. At that time, you can activate and officially transfer your number.

How Bringing Your Number Works

  1. When you place an online order, you'll need to provide your current wireless account information at checkout.
  2. We'll contact your current service provider to confirm we can bring your number to Cricket. The information you provide must match your current service provider's records exactly. If there is a mismatch in the data, the number transfer will be delayed.
  3. Once your current service provider confirms your account information, we’ll ship your order.
  4. When you receive your device or SIM, you’ll activate it. That’s when your number will officially be transferred.

What You Need to Bring Your Number:

Depending on your service provider, you may need the following information. Don’t worry, we’ll help you track it down when it’s time.

  • Current wireless account number
  • Current account PIN
  • Number transfer PIN
  • Social Security Number (last four digits)
  • Billing ZIP code on account
  • SIM card number (last 15 digits)
We'll ship your new phone or SIM card to you. Once it arrives, you will be able to activate your service and complete your transfer.

What to Expect

We'll collect your account information when you order new service and begin working with your current carrier to approve the number transfer. We won't officially bring your phone number to Cricket until you activate. Here's what you need to know:

  • If we can't confirm your transfer immediately, we'll work with your current wireless company and email you when we have an update. Please check your email in case we need you to take additional steps.
  • Your current service will continue to work until you activate.
  • Don't cancel your current wireless service. Your number must be active so we can bring it to Cricket.
  • We'll contact you if we need help bringing your number.
  • When you activate, you may have what we call "mixed service" for up to 4 hours. This means that your old device may receive calls while your new device can make calls. This is due to the time it takes for your phone number to move through all the systems between your current wireless company and Cricket.
  • SMS/MMS messages could take up to 8 hours to work properly while this happens.
  • Data will work on your new phone immediately after you activate.

Numbers That We Can't Bring to Cricket

Some numbers are not eligible to be transferred to Cricket:

  • Home phone

  • Toll-free
  • VoIP (voice over IP) numbers, such as Skype or Google Voice

If you can't bring your number to Cricket, you can always get a new Cricket number in your ZIP code.

FAQs About Transferring Cell Phone Numbers

The best time to bring your number is when you first sign up for Cricket service. If you've already set up service with Cricket, you'll need to set up a new account with the number you would like to bring and pay for this new service. We can't transfer funds from your current account to a new account, so you may want to do this at the end of your bill cycle.

We'll officially bring your number to Cricket when you activate your service. During this process, you may be able to make calls with your new Cricket phone or SIM card but continue to receive calls on your old phone. This could last up to 4 hours. Text, picture, and video messages usually work within 4 hours, but could take up to 8 hours. Data should work immediately.
If you brought your own phone and data isn't working, you may need to update your settings manually. Visit Phone Support for troubleshooting and setup tutorials.
If your number can't be transferred, you can still join the Cricket network by starting a new order. Just select I need a new number when choosing a device or setting up your line.
