How do I change to a new Cricket rate plan?

You can easily change your plan online in My Account or directly on your device through the myCricket app. Check out these step-by-step instructions on how to change your Cricket plan. Keep in mind, you can only change your plan twice per billing cycle.   

Note: As of Jan. 27, 2017, our $40/mo Basic plan now features 3 GB of high-speed data access. The $50/mo Smart plan now offers 8 GB. The $60/mo Pro plan now includes 12 GB. If you're an existing customer on one of these plans, your data will be automatically increased at no extra cost by Feb. 27, 2017.

Will my old plan go away?

Once you switch to a new and current Cricket rate plan, your old plan will no longer be available.

Do I need to change my plan to get the new high-speed data allowance?
On January 27, 2017, we increased our high-speed data allowances! Existing customers on a Basic, Smart or Pro plan will automatically have their data allowances updated at the start of their next billing cycle.

Can I purchase applications, media, music and/or games through my Cricket Wireless account?

No, these purchases are handled separately through your device's online store (Google play, Apple iTunes and App Store, Windows Marketplace, etc). 

Can you help me find my previously purchased applications and media? What about music and games?

Please contact your device's online store for all questions regarding your app, media, music and game purchases.

International FAQs

Which plans allow data access plus unlimited calling and messaging to and from the U.S. Mexico and Canada*?

All Cricket plans starting at $50/mo include this. *Northern Territories of Canada not included (867 area code).

Can I use my Cricket phone while traveling in other countries?

If you have a plan that costs $50 or more per month, you'll be able to use your phone in Mexico and Canada. At this time, international roaming for other countries is not available.

Unlimited talk & text to and from Mexico, Canada, and the U.S., plus high-speed data access while traveling in Mexico and Canada are included as part of all plans starting at $50/mo (including the grandfathered Smart, pro, and Advanced plans). Includes calls to both landlines and mobile numbers. Data speeds are reduced when you use up your plan's high-speed allowance. Primary use must occur in the U.S. Calls, texts, and data usage while in Mexico and/or Canada cannot exceed 50% of the total usage.

Cricket customers who already have the grandfathered Cricket International Roaming Mexico monthly feature added to their Basic plan can also continue to enjoy calling and texting while in Mexico and Canada (monthly recurring add-on only).

Can I use Visual Voicemail while traveling in other countries?

If you have a plan that costs $50 or more per month, and you have Visual Voicemail enabled on your device, you'll be able to use Visual Voicemail while traveling in Mexico and Canada. At this time, roaming is not available in any other countries.

Can I use my Mobile Hotspot feature while traveling in other countries?

If you have a plan that costs $50 or more per month, and you've added the Mobile Hotspot feature to your line, you'll be able to use it while traveling in Mexico and Canada. At this time, data roaming is not available in any other countries.

What is the difference between International Long Distance and International Roaming?

It's easy to remember the difference between them if you think about where you are physically located:

  • If you're in the U.S. and calling another country, then you're using International Long Distance.
  • If you're calling while outside the U.S., then you're using International Roaming.

Keep in mind, all Cricket plans starting at $50/mo (including the grandfathered Smart, Pro, and Advanced plans) already include:

  • Unlimited international text messaging (SMS) from the U.S. to 38 countries
  • Unlimited calling to landlines and mobile phones and unlimited text, picture, and video messaging (SMS & MMS) to and from Mexico, Canada, and the U.S., plus high-speed data access while traveling in Mexico and Canada. Includes both mobile and landline numbers. What other countries can I call and text while roaming in Mexico or Canada?

If you have a plan starting at $50/mo or the grandfathered Cricket International Roaming Mexico feature, you can receive calls and texts from anywhere in the world. However, you can only send texts and make calls to Mexico, Canada and U.S. mobile numbers.  

What if I need help while in Mexico or Canada?

To reach Customer Support while roaming in Mexico or Canada, dial 611 from your cell phone or +1-214-547-2346 from any landline phone. If you don't have a plan that costs $50/mo or more, or have not previously added Cricket International Roaming Mexico to your account, you will need to call +1-214-547-2346 from another phone using the number. You can also use the myCricket app to chat with a representative.

Can I send pictures and video messages from Mexico or Canada?

Yes, if you have a rate plan that costs $50/mo or more. The grandfathered Cricket International Roaming Mexico feature allows you to make calls and send text messages (SMS only).

When I'm in Mexico or Canada, can I use cellular data to access the internet?

Yes, if you are on a $50/mo and up plan. If you go over your high-speed allowance, speeds will be reduced to a maximum 128 Kbps for the rest of your billing cycle. The grandfathered Cricket International Roaming Mexico feature does not provide access to cellular data services including internet.

Does 911 work outside the U.S.?

No, calls made on a Cricket phone in Mexico or Canada will be routed to the local emergency services provider.

When I arrive in Mexico or Canada, how do I make and receive calls?

If you're on a $50/mo and up rate plan, or you have the grandfathered Cricket International Roaming Mexico add-on, your phone should automatically search for a wireless network. A connection can usually be made in 30-40 seconds. When the name of the local operator is displayed, your phone is ready to use.

How do I dial phone numbers in Mexico or Canada?

In Mexico, you can dial a local number from your Cricket Wireless device just as you would from a local phone in Mexico. Since dialing pattern variations may exist when making a local call within Mexico, you may want to research this before you go.

In Canada, to call a local number simply dial +1 and the 10 digit phone number.
To place a call or send a message back to the U.S., simply dial + (1) (area code) (number).

If I am throttled while in the U.S., what happens when I am roaming in Mexico or Canada?

If you are throttled because you exceeded your rate plan's high-speed data allowance, you will continue to be throttled if you are roaming in Mexico or Canada.  Once your throttling is removed at your next bill cycle, you will have access to high-speed data while in Mexico or Canada.

What high-speed data access can I receive while roaming in Mexico or Canada?

High-speed Data Access service and speeds, while roaming in Mexico and Canada, are subject to the capabilities of the local service provider(s), your device and location.  Please check the coverage maps here for more details on data coverage.

What if I'm roaming in Mexico and my data is working, but I can't make calls?

This could happen in some areas of Mexico if you're connected to the Nextel network. You will see "Nextel" in the top left corner of your phone. To make calls and send texts, you'll need to connect to a different carrier (iUSACell or Telcel). Try turning your phone off and then turning it back on again and look for either iUsacell or Telcel in top left corner.

 

Auto Pay FAQs

Can I get the Auto Pay credit with my current Cricket rate plan?

The Auto Pay Service Credit Program is only available with Cricket rate plans starting at $40/mo that were activated on or after Feb. 4, 2014. This includes the grandfathered Advanced plan. If you're on an older plan, we make it super simple to switch to a new one. Keep in mind, the Auto Pay credit is not applicable to accounts already receiving a Group Save discount.

Can I get the Auto Pay credit with the $25 or $30 rate plan?

No. The Auto Pay Service Credit Program is only available with plans starting at $40/mo. Keep in mind, the Auto Pay credit is not applicable to accounts already receiving a Group Save discount.
