Gateway Status Lights and Error Codes
What do the lights on my device mean?
Your gateway uses lights to show power, signal strength, Wi‑Fi status, and any issues that may need attention. If you're having trouble connecting, checking the lights is a great place to start.
Power Light
- Solid green = Your gateway has power and is operating normally.
- Solid red = Your gateway has detected an error. Check the signal lights or contact Cricket Support if the issue continues.
Signal Strength Lights
The four signal lights on the front of the gateway show how strong your cellular connection is.
- 1 green light = Poor signal. Move the gateway closer to a window, exterior wall, or higher location.
- 2 green lights = Fair signal. The gateway should work, but moving it may improve connection reliability and performance.
- 3–4 green lights = Strong signal and recommended for the best experience.
Wi‑Fi Light
- Green = Wi‑Fi is turned on.
- No light = Wi‑Fi is turned off. Devices connected with Ethernet can still access the internet.
Startup and Restart Status
- Chasing amber lights = Your gateway is starting up or reconnecting to the network. Please wait a few minutes for setup to complete.
- All signal lights solid green = Your gateway has connected to the best available signal.
- All signal lights blinking green = Your gateway is performing a factory reset. Please wait for it to restart.
Software Update Status
- All lights green, but no Wi‑Fi connection = Your gateway may be installing a software update. Wait about 3 minutes. If Wi‑Fi does not return, restart the gateway.
Error Statuses
If the power light is red, your gateway has detected an error that may be affecting your internet service.
Try restarting the gateway and allowing several minutes for it to reconnect. If the power light remains red, refer to the Cricket 5G Home Internet Gateway User Manual for detailed information about gateway error statuses and troubleshooting steps.
