You must be a resident of a state where Cricket offers the Cricket Lifeline Credit to be eligible for the program.
The Cricket Lifeline Credit works with your existing Cricket Wireless CDMA service. You can keep your current rate plan and continue to use your phone as usual, but you'll get a credit off your monthly amount due. You can also change to any current Cricket Wireless CDMA rate plan if you'd like; there is no charge to make this change. New customers must choose a current Cricket Wireless CDMA rate plan.
First you need to apply for the Cricket Lifeline Credit, and if your application is approved, you'll receive a credit each month on your wireless phone bill. The application process varies by state. In select states, Cricket is no longer accepting new Lifeline applications. Check your state for Cricket Lifeline availability.
Lifeline is only offered in Stores within the legacy Cricket CDMA coverage area and is only available on Cricket Wireless CDMA service. You can find the CDMA coverage by selecting the Coverage tab on cricketwireless.com and then selecting "Looking for original Cricket (CDMA) coverage". The Lifeline credit is not available on Cricket Wireless GSM 4G service. Existing Lifeline customers who transition to GSM 4G service will lose their Lifeline discount even if the customer previously had a Lifeline discount on a Cricket Wireless CDMA account.
Visit a Cricket Corporate-Owned Store or Exclusive Cricket Dealer in Cricket's CDMA coverage area to learn more about the Cricket Lifeline Credit or visit lifelinesupport.org to learn more about the federal Lifeline program.
NOTE: Cricket is upgrading its CDMA network to 4G GSM and expects to stop offering CDMA wireless service as early as March 2015. CDMA PHONES (including CDMA phones that provide Lifeline service) WILL NO LONGER WORK ON OUR WIRELESS NETWORK AFTER WE COMPLETE THIS UPGRADE.
